All things... don't get much better
Mar. 6th, 2004 01:24 amSo now, with some sleep and a day of work behind me, the Rally recap:
Holy crap, so awesome.
It was just so amazingly nice to see my Jumpy-sis and Deb and Lippy waiting for me, and my great-little coming soon after, with much huggage all around. We went to see Sharon, which was pretty cool -- she had a red sweater, which rocks muchly, and she was all cool-like as usual, and holy damn, does she look good. She's lost like a hundred pounds, totally. It's like she's lost a whole other person, or something, she's that skinny now, but she looks really good, just very fit.
Rally was cool, sittin' with my peeps again, yelling the old songs again, going hoarse to screams of "Take a B, add an L..." Boy, how many times have I yelled that one? Countless, countless times, times spent standing in the frickin' cold against one of the walls of Robison or marching into or out of Schacht's. Good times.
And then, just as Rally Night reached fever pitch, the finale of weeks of effort and no sleep for hundreds of classmates, all three underclasses screaming at the top of their lungs and jumping up and down until the walls of the auditorium shook, Sarah showed up, my little sis. And as I was coming down from the joy-joy of her being there, they announced that our little Angels won, the overalls unfurling the blue banner as the Angels screamed with joy, using up the last bits of energy they had to clamber up onto the stage and cheer, waving their banner around proudly, a sea of beautiful blue and smiling Angel faces. I almost cried, I did, I was so proud of them, and I thought of how nice it looked to see a class of happy Angels on that stage, cheering and celebrating their Rally win, a sight I'd never been able to see when I was a student, the victory that slipped through the fingers of my class twice.
We didn't stay long at the Rally Party, just long enough to get our mugs and dance to the Time Warp, but it was wonderful. I couldn't help just sorta standing back a few times, watching Sarah and Sarah Beth, my sisters reunited from far away, and Beth and Shannon and Deb, the friends who aren't so far away but I still never get to see, just watching them smiling and dancing all in one place again. I wondered then, does it get much better than that? No, it doesn't. The only way it could've been better is if Lilly and Jess had been there, too. Still, it was just totally awesome, especially having my whole family together again, me and my three sisters. They really are like family to me, three beautiful, smart, funny young women who I'm unbelievably lucky and honored to have as sisters and friends.
Okay, now I'm getting a bit verklempt... that's probably my cue to wrap this up. All in all, it was an awesome night, another one to add to my long list of happy memories and good times spent with my friends, my sisters, my Es.
