karnerblue: Monterey sea lion (American flag)
I was watching the rhythmic gymnastics coverage this morning, meager as it was already (I know, no Americans competing, nobody cares -- but darnit, I care, it's one of my favorite things to watch in the Olympics), and the team qualifying was on. Russia went, and they were, surprisingly, just okay. China went, and they were pretty good, first place. And then, Belarus went.

And about a third of the way through their rope routine, it cut out.

After a commercial, the desk jockey announcer guy said that they had had technical difficulties, and well, we'll just tell you that Belarus is now in first.

What kind of crap is that?

For one, if they're in first now, better than the Chinese, I want to see what got them there. And for another, it's not like they lost a live feed here -- the competition, according to their own Web site, was at 8ish this morning (our time), and I was watching it at 11ish. It was tape-delayed! C'mon, you guys can't play a tape right, or go back, fix the tape and show it after the commercial? Bullcrap.

And to add insult to injury, it's not on their site, either. Actually, as of now, there is no rhythmic gymnastics footage from these Games whatsoever on their site. I know it's just qualifiers, but every other sport gets tons of coverage. C'mon, like it would kill them to at least put up the video of the Belarus team, so we could see what we missed?
