Theresa? Theresa who?
Feb. 21st, 2008 10:09 pmTonight, I went to Rally. :)
Actually, first, I went to see Sharon, who seemed surprised to see me. We chatted about the usual stuff, and Sage, and all of my E's, 'cause she asked how a bunch of you were doing. :)
Then, there was Rally, and, well... there's good news, and there's bad news.
First, the bad news: Enrollment has really, really dropped. Like, there were 50ish students downstairs in Schacht's... seriously, I'm not even kidding. By my quick headcounts, there were 13 seniors (including the overalls), 16 juniors, 10 sophomores and around 20 freshmen. The place looked really, really empty. I mean, those meager little groups sure did give it their all, but it was still kinda sad to see. And the can counts! The can counts were something like 6,000-something, 7,000-something and 8,000-something. Seriously. I remember all three classes pulling in more like 36,000, 45,000, even 52,000 -- each. I can't even fault them all that much, either, 'cause with that few people, when they all actually have classes to go to and whatnot, how much can-hunting can they really fit in?
And then, the good news: The Angels won! Go Angels! :) :) :) And on top of that, despite the tiny numbers of participants, Rally spirit lives on -- you could feel it just the same, that same scream-'til-it-hurts, can't-memorize-any-more-songs, high-on-paint-fumes, exhausted euphoria.
(And on a personal note, I put on my sweater today as I was about to leave ... and damn, I really HAVE lost weight since college. Like I could totally fit another person in there with me. Yay for that.)
So all in all, a good night, and I'm glad I went. Maybe I can drag some of you guys with me next time? :)
