Drink up sweet decadence
Apr. 6th, 2007 12:58 amNot going to work is sweet. Not going to work because you're going to a concert is even sweeter.
I went to see Evanescence tonight, and they were fabulous. They did pretty much every song they have (I haven't thought of one yet that they didn't do), and they rocked, totally. Amy Lee is awesome, and so is the current incarnation of her band. Truly, it was an awesome show.
Chevelle was pretty good, too. And the first opener, well, it was Finger Eleven (better known as "those guys who did that 'One Thing' song that got played to death a few years back"). They were alright. The best part was when they finally played "One Thing," and like 80 percent of the crowd all had the light bulbs go off at once, like "ohh, it's those guys, I know this one." Still, it took a surprise Amy Lee appearance in mid-song to really wake the crowd up.
I got a shirt. I had a good time. I wasn't working. And I remembered why I started venturing into the pit instead of always being up in the seats -- the pit people are just more into it. All of the people around me acted like they didn't really care very much about being there, which is sad -- I mean, why did you waste the money, then? I was the only one in my area who stood and danced through the whole final act. Something about sitting down makes you zone out, I think -- you lose the half-dehydrated-exhausted intensity of being right up close.
