Avenue "Who knew?"

Wow, I'll be damned. I think my jaw actually fell when they announced "Avenue Q" for best musical. I mean, "Wicked" comes in with 10 nominations, the big, elaborate show, versus "Avenue Q" with six (I think) nominations, the play nobody bothered to take seriously, the "puppet show." And "Avenue Q" actually won, plus two other awards -- the same count as "Wicked," I believe, but "Avenue Q" won the big one and won that many with fewer nominations.

I'm happy to see that Idina Menzel won best actress, at least. She totally deserved it.

And now I double-extra want to see both shows, and I really want to get the "Avenue Q" soundtrack.

And I'm waiting to see if I get yelled at tomorrow for using "sucks" in a headline. C'mon, it's "Avenue Q," for cryin' out loud. But that may not stop me from being yelled at. *shrug*

Help Wanted

If anyone's looking for a job, we have an opening on our copy desk -- my coworker gave notice today.

The job is fairly good, but I won't lie -- the pay is fairly shitty. Still, if anyone's thinking of applying, lmk and I'll put in lots of good words for you, 'cause I could use a good, friendly coworker.

Random musical crap

Apparently, I've picked up a lot of "American Pie" by osmosis. It was on the radio on the way home tonight, and I found myself singing along, and suddenly, near the end, I realized that I was singing along, actually getting the words right. I didn't think I knew the words to that song, but apparently, I know quite a few of them.

I really need some showtunes. I should pick up a new CD of a show, maybe Avenue Q, maybe You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, since I seem to have lost my mp3s of that one. I have Launchcast on the showtunes channel right now, and "No One Is Alone" is on. I love this song. I had this CD, too. Wish I had a damn clue where it went -- the CD just sorta disappeared at some point in the past 10 years or so. I might have to buy another copy at some point -- Into The Woods has some good music.
