Cooking conundrum

I don't have a clue what to make.
It needs to be nice, but it needs to be cheap, too, 'cause I don't have much money.
I'm thinking pasta, but then I'm thinking my dad probably wouldn't be too into that. And they apparently had spaghetti tonight, anyway.
Hm. Must go through my cookbooks later (well, cookbook and regular book with recipes -- Alton Brown's I'm Just Here For The Food and the Queer Eye book).
